Karachi Bioethics Group (KBG), at its meeting on October 1, unanimously endorsed the initiative by HEC (Higher Education Commission) against plagiarism. HEC has also proposed a policy for all academic institutions of Pakistan. It is commendable that this step has been taken in the interest of all teaching and research institutes.
KBG recognises the fact that many in the academic are aware of plagiarism and take their own measures to curb it, but a policy governing plagiarism needs to be adopted by every institution. KBG urges all institutions to develop a policy on plagiarism and develop mechanisms for its implementation.-PR
